On the Tarmac
Here is a Capital Airlines Douglas DC-4 at the terminal of the Cleveland, Ohio airport back in 1957.

This is from a Kodachrome slide. Back in those days passengers walked out to the aircraft and up the stairs to the plane. Those whirligigs on the plane? Propellers – connected to piston engines. Jets were around but had not yet become dominant.
Here is a Boeing 707 in FAA livery at an open house that I attended at the then new international terminal area of LAX – Los Angeles, California. This was in the early 1960, maybe 1962.
