Afternoon in the Park
An afternoon visit to my favorite park
Not much was happening today at the park, or so it seemed. The robins were wary as always. A bright little yellow blossom proclaimed spring is on the way. The rain earlier in the morning provided a bit of action at the falls.
Out on the pond one Canada goose seemed very attentive. The duck couple was paddling happily across the pond. The sunning log had its small gathering of turtles. Just an afternoon in the park.
What, just one goose? Where is it’s mate? The answer was right there on the little island. Wait, there is also a duck. One of the ducks was now on the island, the other hiding along the shore nearby. The island seems a little barren and offers little to hide the incubating birds. But that will change before we will be introduced to the goslings and ducklings in about a month.
I tried to get a little closer to the “nest island”. The mate of the goose positioned itself between me and the nest site. In the last photo here the goose seems to be saying, “That’s close enough, big eye!”
